The incident took place around 11:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22, when police responded to a residence in the 500 block of Black Rock Turnpike for an intruder complaint reported by the homeowner, Lt. Antonio Granata said.
The intruder attempted to enter the home by turning the exterior door handles to the residence.
The intruder fled the scene before police arrived, however, the incident was captured on the homeowner’s video surveillance system, which was provided to police, Granata said.
Detectives canvased the neighborhood and identified Lance Tennyson Jr., of Fairfield, as the suspect.
When Tennyson was interviewed by detectives, he admitted to being the individual captured on video surveillance trying to enter the residence, telling detectives he was attempting to recover a missing package that had reportedly been delivered.
The investigation revealed there was no validity to his claim, Granata said.
This incident occurred during the overnight hours while the residence was occupied.
Tennyson was arrested and charged with attempted burglary.
He is being held on a $100,000 bond.
